From Your Publisher: Mother's Day Greetings

Every second Sunday of May, we honor those women who are our mothers or someone who is like a mother

By Donnah Opelac May 9, 2020

Motherhood is not only birthing a child. It is also having a mother's heart as well. An adoptive mother is also a mother. It can be someone who is like a mother. Because a mother loved a child. Whether you are a biological, adoptive or someone like a mother, you are a mother. This year, the celebration is different. The pandemic made the celebration different. We can still celebrate mother's day with strict social distancing. Here are the 7 Ways to Celebrate Mother's Day in the Time of Coronavirus. And Celebrate Mom With These FREE Mother's Day Printables

Be Counted in 2020 U.S. Census

The census is so important and required by law. Please complete the short 10-minute 2020 Census questionnaire online through the U.S. Census Bureau's website at www.My2020Census.gov. Responding online helps conserve natural resources, save taxpayer money, and process data more efficiently. The Census Bureau also is offering American Sign Language support and has a toll-free Telephone Display Device (TDD) number of (844) 467-2020. The census also can be taken over the telephone. The Census Bureau is operating toll-free language assistance lines in many languages including the three most common languages spoken in Southern Nevada:

  • English (844) 330-2020
  • Spanish (844) 468-2020
  • Tagalog (844) 478-2020

Households that don't respond early this spring will receive a paper questionnaire that can return by mail. If you do not respond, a census taker in-person will come to your house between May and July.

FREE COVID APP

Apple Inc. – in partnership with the White House Coronavirus Task Force and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – released an app and website that will provide guidance through a series of questions about health and exposure to determine if they should seek care for COVID-19 symptoms.  The tool provides CDC recommendations on the next steps including guidance on social distancing and self-isolating, how to closely monitor symptoms, recommendations on testing, and when to contact a medical provider.

Users can download the free app from the App Store available for the iPhone and iPad. Or click to access the tool online.
