Exceptional Circumstance Special Enrollment Period (ECSEP)
In response to Governor Sisolak’s March 12, 2020, Emergency Declaration, Nevada Health Link announces a limited-time Exceptional Circumstance Special Enrollment Period for qualified Nevadans who missed the Open Enrollment Period. The SEP has been extended and runs now through May 15, 2020, and will allow eligible individuals to enroll in a qualified health plan through the SBE platform, Nevada Health Link.

Have You Been Exposed?
COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by a new virus called SARS-CoV-2. The most common symptoms of the disease are fever, persistent cough, and shortness of breath. Most people with COVID-19 will have a mild disease but some people will get sicker and may need to be hospitalized. Please click here if you think you have been exposed to or are developing potential symptoms.
Unemployment
The Nevada Department of Employment has expanded system and staffing to accommodate any increase in unemployment insurance claims. The current hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday. Go to ui.nv.gov/css.html to complete claims. If you're unable to get through, keep trying online.
Governor Sisolak has waived the searching for work requirements and the seven day waiting period.
To file a claim via telephone, claimants must call one of the two-state claims call centers: Northern call center: 775-684-0350 and Southern call center: 702-486-0350. Claimants located in Nevada rural areas or out-of-state can call 888-890-8211.
Schools In State Of Nevada Close Through April 13
Governor Sisolak announced that all K-12 schools in the state of Nevada are closed beginning Monday, March 16 through at least April 13, 2020. This includes all public, private and charter schools.
Academic resources can be found at www.ccsd.net. Student food distribution pods will be available at the following locations during the closure from 8 to 11 a.m. to allow students to receive breakfast and lunch. View the list of locations.
Stay Home for Nevada
Governor Steve Sisolak has directed all Nevadans to stay home and for all nonessential businesses to close to the public for 30 days.
Essential businesses include:
- Fire services
- Law enforcement agencies
- Emergency medical services
- Public safety agencies
- Healthcare providers
- Government agencies
- Veterinary services
- Grocery stores
- Pharmacies
- Financial institutions
- Hardware stores
- Conveniences stores
- Security services
- Gas stations
- Construction
- Mining
- Manufacturing
- Infrastructure
Retail cannabis dispensaries may operate by delivery only.
Restaurants and establishments serving prepared meals can only serve customers through take-out, drive-through, curbside pickup or delivery.
All of these businesses must adopt risk mitigation measures that reduce the risk of community disease spread including:
- Providing curbside, pickup or delivery of goods whenever possible
- Social distancing
- Disallowing the formation of lines
- Adopting contactless payment systems
Under the governor’s order to close nonessential businesses, that includes door-to-door solicitations for goods and services. Selling door-to-door during the closure is prohibited, and those doing it may be part of a scam or illegal activity.

Governor Steve Sisolak has issued a Declaration of Emergency in the State of Nevada. Mayor Goodman has declared a state of emergency in the city of Las Vegas. The Governor also announced the creation of the new “Nevada Health Response” website, which was created in close coordination with the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, to provide up-to-date information, guidance and news pertaining to COVID-19. City Closures & Cancellations
The city has made adjustments to its services in response to the coronavirus outbreak. The public can call 702-229-CARE (2273) from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday through Sunday the line will give callers automated options.
Parks Will Remain Open
New cleaning and social distancing protocols will allow the city’s 70+ parks to remain open. The city is stepping up cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch areas in parks, including restrooms and playground equipment.

The Tyler Robinson Foundation, Imagine Dragons’ nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis, is looking for pen pals to help families facing isolation right now. Is Our Water Safe?
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, like the flu, which is spread person to person—there is no indication that transmission can occur via drinking water supplies.
Southern Nevada’s drinking water is treated using a combination of ozonation, filtration, and chlorination, which are on the leading edge of water treatment processes and effective at removing contaminants from water. To ensure your water meets or surpasses drinking water standards, we also monitor water quality around the valley 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
