A Note From Your Publisher: Info on Las Vegas Event Cancellations

Cancellations are also announced on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Pages

By Donnah Opelac, editor & publisher March 14, 2020

This is an uncertain time, and things seem to be changing by the day -- if not the hour -- with coronavirus and the reaction to it as health officials and the government try to slow its spread.

Las Vegas events are being canceled and I have marked them as such on the events calendar as I hear about them. But I always recommend verifying event details with the venue before you attend, and it is especially important to do so right now as Las Vegas events may be canceled with little to no notice.

Macaroni Kid Downtown Las Vegas will update our calendar as we hear of cancellations. For instance, Home Depot and Lowe's have canceled their kids' workshops nationwide for the time being.

  • As a precaution against the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Library District is suspending all group activities and events starting Friday, March 13, through June 30.  Stay tuned for more information.
  • Smith Center is closed at least through the end of March.
  • Monster Jam has been postponed.
  • Baby Shark Live has been postponed.
  • Winter Guard International (WGI) suspends all regional events for the remainder of the 2020 season.
  • MGM Resorts announced that starting this Sunday, March 15, it will temporarily close the buffets at seven of its Las Vegas properties: Aria, Bellagio, Excalibur, Luxor, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, and The Mirage.
  • Wynn Resorts will temporarily cancel all large entertainment gatherings. This includes buffets, nightclubs, and theaters.

Updates are also posted on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

If you hear of any event cancellations not reflected on the Macaroni Kid Downtown Las Vegas events calendar, please reach out to me at donnaho@macaronikid.com or on our Facebook page and I will update the calendar.

Please watch the CDC, the Nevada Health Response, and the Southern Nevada Health District for the latest news.

And, of course, please take care of yourselves and your family. (But leave some toilet paper for the rest of us.)
