10 Ways in Getting Around The Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas

FREE Trams, Reduced Fares, Fare Passes, Shuttles, Bus, Taxis, Ride Shares and Other Options

By Donna Opelac, Editor & Publisher, travel agent November 2, 2022

It is fabulous to walk from one end of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip to the other and historic Downtown Las Vegas (and make your Facebook and Insta friends and followers jealous 😉) But there are options to discover the wonder of Las Vegas. Here is the list of transportation options to help you traverse quicker on the city that never stops.

1) Save an Extra $55 to explore the attractions of Las Vegas

Did you know that the Go Card Las Vegas includes the $55 value Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Las Vegas 1-Day Standard Tour? The perfect way to explore Las Vegas and the included attractions of the Go Las Vegas Card. Click here for the Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Las Vegas.

2) FREE MGM Tram

An easy way to see more of the Strip without too much extra walking is to hop on the free tram of MGM resort hotels, courtesy of MGM resort hotels. A free ride from one end of the Strip to the other (not really the end part, but close enough).

Click here how to ride the three different routes:

  • Mandalay Bay – Luxor – Excalibur Tram
  • Park MGM – Aria – Bellagio Tram
  • Mirage-Treasure Island Tram

3) LAS VEGAS MONORAIL

Navigate the Las Vegas Strip in less than 15 minutes at speeds of up to 50 mph. It is a 3.9-mile elevated system above the Las Vegas Strip. Trains arrive every four to eight minutes at each of the seven stations. Find the station closest to you (colored caption below) to access hotels, world-class restaurants, shows, shopping, clubs, and nightlife.

Choose from several fare types to suit travel needs, from a one-way trip to an unlimited-ride pass. Purchase tickets online and get to your destination faster with Scan & Go technology! No more fumbling with paper tickets, confirmations, or redemption codes.

Nevada Resident Discount Tickets: LOCAL FARE IS $1.

4) Downtown Loop

The Downtown Loop is a free shuttle that makes a stop at the exciting attractions in downtown Las Vegas. Click here to know more.

5) BUS

The Deuce is Las Vegas’ public transportation operated by the Regional Transportation Commission. Reduced fares and fare passes are available for veterans and students.

Click for the Deuce on the Strip that will stop at just about every resort on the Strip. The Deuce on the Strip operates 24/7.

Click for the DVX, the Strip, and Downtown Express that connects downtown, the convention center, and the Strip via bus-only lanes with limited stops to provide faster "express" service. It operates from 9 am to midnight daily.

6) TAXIS

Taxis are plentiful in Las Vegas. But unlike in other places, you cannot hail a taxi directly on the Las Vegas Strip. Safety laws required taxis to pick up passengers at a taxi stand or taxi line in airports, hotels, shopping malls, and attractions. Hotels have specific areas for taxi pick-up and drop-off, usually near the valet or main entrance.

7) Rideshare

Ridesharing, commonly associated with Uber and Lyft, is a convenient option to get around the Las Vegas valley. Like taxis, there are specific pick-up and drop-off locations. Please be respectful to our local drivers by following directions on where to ride and drop off.

8) Rental Cars

Rental car companies can be found at the airport, hotels, and standalone rental locations. The Harry Reid International Airport Rental Car Center houses 10 car rental companies in one location.

9) Limos

Limousines are fabulous and fancy to ride around the city. Arrive in style from the airport to your resort. Reservations are available at the airport and at the resorts.

10) Exclusive to convention and trade show attendees: The LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER (LVCC) LOOP

The Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) loop provides fast and accessible transportation for convention and trade show attendees across the convention center (North/Central/South/West halls) and Resorts World. Five passenger stations offer convenient access to nearby transportation, such as the Las Vegas Monorail.

Rides are complimentary with a conference badge at the LVCCC except boarding at Resort World station.
