The summer season is the hottest season of the year. Not only of the rising temperature. But of the things that we can only do during summer. Summertime means enjoying the great outdoors and getting active. Our summer may be of a different start because of the pandemic. But if we follow the facilities guidelines and protocols for our safety, we can still have a fun summer season.

2. Clark County Library Summer Challenge from babies through 12th grade

At home or at the library, kids of all ages, from babies (with parents/caregivers to those who can't read on their own) through 12th grade can earn points for reading and completing other fun activities. Participants receive prizes for completing each level and are entered to win awesome grand prizes. Parents and students can visit summerconnections.ccsd.net to locate resources from Khan Academy, MAP Accelerator, Actively Learn, Smarty Ants, and myOn. Credit retrieval and credit acceleration options are available through Apex and Nevada Learning Academy. Along with learning opportunities provided on the website, parents can find information about foodservice distribution, Chromebook deployment, and the Summer Challenge summer reading partnership with public libraries in Southern Nevada.

The CCSD Summer Connections website is a great resource for CCSD families to use in order to keep students engaged with virtual learning over the summer. The website is also available in Spanish at conexionesdeverano.ccsd.net. Parents and students who need login information to access these resources can contact their school for support.

4. Discover Parks & Recreation Facilities And Amenities including Splash Pads And Skate Parks

The following are now open:  

The Pavilion Pool, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive, is now open. Open swim will take place Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and 7:15 - 9:15 p.m., and Saturdays from noon - 5 p.m. The pool is closed on Sundays. Lap swimmers must call 702-229-1488 to make a lane reservation. Visit www.lasvegasnevada.gov/welcomeback for the most up to date reopening information for the city of Las Vegas.
