Description

Various student artists' works make up "The Impact" exhibit on display now through March 19 in the Rotunda Gallery as part of the County's recognition of Black History Month. The diversity in themes and work highlights art that represents celebrates, honors & brings awareness to those that impact us. 

Guest curators include Harold Bradford and Chase McCurdy, two members of the Clark County Public Art Committee and established artists. The show also features one of Harold Bradford’s pieces.
Bradford has been involved in fine arts all his life and professionally for more than 40 years. He has participated in many group and one-man exhibitions both locally and nationally including the 1974 World’s Fair in Spokane, Wash., which included some of the top artists around the country.

McCurdy is a Las Vegas interdisciplinary artist and educator. Chase’s art practice has evolved from a focus on photography and film to encompass painting and writing among other things. With a focus on art history and theory, education, and societal relationships, Chase’s studies have brought him back to his hometown of Las Vegas after living and working in Los Angeles and Paris.

“The Impact” Featured Artists:
Youth – Selam Desta, Victoria DeStefano, Juliyanna Elenski, Alisia Flanagan, Paris Saint-Marc, Alecia Perry-Pollard, Angel Tanguay
Amateur – Peter Arias, Sameer Asnani, Rachel Elkins, Jazmine Harris, Alison Johnston, Percy Knight, David Murry, Valarie Woods, Angela & Karena Graham
Professional – Sylvia Aldebol, Lisa Bedow, Orlando Montenegro-Cruz, Marissa Gibson, Cheryl Magellen, Daniel Mauk, Edwin Perez, Donald Starr, Sandy Lee Wyatt III, Dom Visuals. 

In addition to visual artworks, a poem submitted by Rodney J. Lee is included.  Mr. Lee’s book, “Along These Trails” features poetry about the history of Nevada, which is inclusive of the perspectives and contributions of people of color.
