Summer is almost halfway gone. Prevent "summer slide”—the learning loss which can occur over the summer months. Research had shown that kids who don’t read during summer vacation actually slip in reading ability when school season is back. Vacation is fun and not an excuse not to read when school is out. - Pay for Parking Tickets with High School Supplies: Qualifying parking infractions, issued between June 19 and July 19, may be paid by means of the donation of food items, children’s toys or school supplies. Donate a new, unwrapped school supplies of equal or greater value than the ticket fine. The supplies must be donated within 30 days of the citation date, and a purchase receipt must be included. School supplies being accepted include pencils, pens, erasers, and pencil sharpeners; dry-erase markers; index cards; paper towels or disinfecting wipes; card stock; copy paper; storage bins; rulers; scissors; and Post-it notesThe recipient of the donations will be The Teachers Exchange, a local 501(c)3 organization which provides resources to Southern Nevada public school teachers.
